A menu inspired by my favorite Oktoberfest classic dishes
This classic and timeless menu will remind you of the fall harvest, or a festive Biergarten. These are some of my favorite childhood recipes, recreated for a modern American kitchen. I know you are going to love em.

Oktoberfest Apple & Cheese SoupYou don’t have to be German to enjoy the bounty of Oktoberfest classics, like my version of apple cheese soup. It features all the earthy flavors of autumn you love, like melted cheese, tart apples, savory bacon and a generous splash of beer. It is a perfect soup for fall evenings.
German Roasted Pork Shanks (Schewinshaxen)Pork is a versatile meat that stands up to the heartiest seasonings and beer pairings. This easy German recipe features a plump pork shank seasoned with earthy caraway and garlic. Roast it to tender perfection and serve with sauerkraut and your favorite zesty condiments (I highly recommend a zippy whole grain mustard).
Quick & Easy Homemade SauerkrautOnce I started making my own sauerkraut, I hardly ever serve it from a can. You will love this tasty shortcut that only requires a few ingredients and is ready in about 30 minutes instead of days like traditional sauerkraut recipes. Serve it as a side or top it on hot dogs and brats.
German Spaetzle NoodlesAre you searching for a satisfying side dish other than dried pasta or rice? Why not try my easy and delicious version of German-style dumplings. Prepare the dough and press it through a colander with wide holes. Saute the spaetzle in a little butter, top with parsley and serve!
