Smart Recipes, American Recipes, Pork,Vegetables Recipes, Recipes Pork,Vegetables American Stewed Collard Greens Stewed Collard Greens Recipe | PT2H20M Serves 4 Ingredients: 3 Tablespoons Lard 6 Cloves Garlic 1 Large Onion 6 Cups Water 2 Teaspoons Seasoned Salt 2 Teaspoons Crushed Red Pepper Flakes 1.5 Pounds Smoked Ham Hocks 1 Large Bunch Of Collard Greens 1.5 Cups Dry White Wine 0.25 Teaspoon Granulated Sugar In a 6-quart stockpot, Heat 1 tablespoon lard over medium heat. Saute minced garlic and onion for 5 minutes, or until the onions are softened. Stir in the water, seasoned salt, red pepper flakes, and ham hocks and bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer for one hour. Add remaining lard, chopped collard greens, wine and sugar. Bring to a boil again, and reduduce to simmer for another hour. Remove the ham hocks from the stockpot, and allow to cool for a few minutes. Debone the ham hocks, and shred the meat. Return to the collard greens and stir to combine.
