Ingredients:
3.5 Cups All-Purpose Flour1 Teaspoon Baking Soda1 Teaspoon Sugar1 Teaspoon Salt1.5 Cups ButtermilkPreheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Combine flour, sugar, salt and baking soda in a large bowl. Make a well in center of dry ingredients and pour 1½ cups of buttermilk. Bring the dough together using a fork or your fingers. Just combine and you don’t need to knead the dough. It has to be soft but not too sticky and wet. Add more buttermilk to reach to your desired consistency. Once combined, place dough on a floured surface. Pat a little more, shape into a ball and press a little to 1½ inch thickness. Make a deep cross in the center using a sharp knife. Place on baking sheet. Allow dough to rest and rise for a minimum of 30 minutes.Bake dough for about 15 minutes. Bring heat down to 400 degrees and bake 20 to 30 minutes more or until loaf is nicely golden in color and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
