Line a muffin tin with paper cups. Take buttermilk in a medium bowl and add in bran to soak for 5 minutes. In the meanwhile, mix together melted butter, vanilla, sugar and molasses in a large mixing bowl. Whisk in eggs, one at a time. Add bananas and mix. Then stir in bran mixture. In another bowl combine flour, flax, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Gradually fold flour mixture into the egg mixture and whisk to just combine without overmixing.
