Ingredients:
2 Cups Sugar2 Tablespoons Cornstarch1 Cup Light Corn Syrup2 Teaspoons Glycerin (Optional)0.75 Cup Water2 Tablespoons Butter1 Teaspoon Salt0.125 Teaspoon Baking Soda0.25 Teaspoon Extract Of Your Choice0 Food ColoringIn a saucepan, put sugar and cornstarch. Using a wooden spoon stir in glycerin, butter, corn syrup, water and salt. Heat the saucepan over medium-high and cook until sugar dissolves, about 7 to 10 minutes. Once the mixture boils let cook untouched until it reaches soft-crack stage. Dip a pastry brush in warm water and wash the sides of the pan while the syrup cooks. Remove from the heat and add baking soda, food coloring and flavoring. Give a stir and pour the mixture into a greased baking sheet and let cool enough to handle. Once taffy is cool grease your hands with oil and stretch out the taffy until it has a stainy gloss or lighter in color. You can ask a friend to help you with this step that should only take 10 minutes. Pull off the toffy sections to roll individually. Now, roll the taffy into a large rope having half an inch of diameter, then cut into 1-inch long pieces using greased scissors. Let the pieces set about half an hour. Then wrap in plastic wrap or wax paper and twist the ends to secure.
