This is the authentic recipe for classic Cuban sandwich which is made with roasted pork, cooked ham, Swiss cheese & dill pickles sandwiched between crusty Cuban bread – and then flattened & griddled to 1/3 of its original thickness. Traditionaly the sandwich would be pressed with bricks, but a panni press makes things easier. Serve with French frys. Smart Recipes, Caribbean Recipes, Pork Recipes, Recipes Pork Caribbean Classic Cuban Sandwich Classic Cuban Sandwich Recipe | PT30M Serves 4 Ingredients: 1 Cuban Bread Loaf 0.25 Cup Yellow Mustard 1 Pound Cooked Ham 1 Pound Roasted Pork 0.5 Pound Swiss Cheese 6 Dill Pickles 2 Tablespoons Butter Cut bread loaf into quarters and cut each quarter in half horizontally for the sandwiches. Spread the mustard over bread evenly. Place roasted pork over bread, followed by ham, cheese and dill pickles. Grease a griddle with a little butter and heat over medium heat. Place one sandwich in the griddle. Flatten the sandwich by pressing it down with a clean, heavy skillet on its top until the sandwich is about 1/3 of its original size. Place the skillet on top of the sandwich and cook for about 1-2 minutes. Flip the sandwich and place skillet on top again. Cook for about 1-2 minutes. Cut each sandwich in half diagonally and serve.
