0.75 Cup Unsalted Butter0 A Few Drops Of Food Colors0.5 Cup Sugar1 Pound Powdered Sugar0.25 Teaspoon Salt1 Egg2.25 Cups All Purpose Flour3 Egg Whites1 Tablespoon Lemon Zest1 Teaspoon Vanilla0.25 Cup Candy SprinklesIn a bowl, add sugar and butter and with an electric mixer, beat until light and fluffy. Add lemon peel, egg, vanilla extract and salt and beat until well combined. Slowly, add flour and beat until well combined. Slowly, add water, a few drops at a time and mix until a non-sticky dough is formed. With a plastic wrap, wrap the dough and refrigerate for about two hours. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease 4 cookie sheets. Place the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll into 1/8-inch thickness. With different cookie cutters, cut the dough into various shapes. Arrange cookies onto prepared cookie sheets in a single layer. Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until edges become golden brown. Remove from the oven and place onto the wire racks to cook for about 5 minutes.In a small bowl, add egg whites and with an electric mixer, beat until foamy. Slowly, add powdered sugar, beating continuously until thick and creamy. Add just enough water to have a smooth consistency. Stir in your desired food coloring, Spread icing over cooled cookies evenly. Decorate with sprinkles.
