Beef & Beer Stew Recipe | PT2H30M Serves 6 Ingredients: 3 Large Onions 2 Cups Dark Marzen Beer 2 Tablespoons Butter 1 Teaspoon Each Of Rosemary & Thyme 2 Large Fresh Bay Leaves 3 Large Potatoes 3 Pounds Stew 3 Large Carrots 1 Large Turnip 6 Peppercorns 1 Cup Celery Hearts With Leaves 1 Tablespoon Vegetable Shortening Coat beef cubes with flour evenly. In a large cast iron pan, heat vegetable shortening and sear the beef until browned evenly . Meanwhile, in a skillet, melt butter and sauté onions and herbs until golden brown. Add turnips, potatoes, carrots and celery and continue to sauté until slightly browned. Combine the vegetable mixture to the cast iron skillet and add remaining ingredients, stir to combine. Add enough water (about 1-2 cups) to cover, bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer. Simmer covered for 2 hours, or until the beef is very tender. Remove the bay leaves, and serve piping hot.
