0.5 Pound Ground Pork0.5 Pound Ground Beef1.25 Cups Steel Cut Oatmeal1 Small Onion2 Bay Leaves1 Teaspoon Salt1 Pinch Ground Black Pepper4 Tablespoon OilIn a large pan, add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. Add oatmeal, salt and black pepper and cook, covered for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in meat, onion and bay leaves and cook, covered for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.Remove from heat and discard bay leaves. Transfer mixture into bread pans of any sizes and refrigerate overnight.Remove from refrigerator and cut goetta into 1/2 x 4-inch slices. In a skillet, heat oil and fry goetta slices until crispy.
