Smart Recipes, American Recipes, Dairy Recipes, Recipes Dairy American Butter Rolls PT1H Serves 6 Ingredients: 2 Cups Self Rising Flour 0.5 Cup Shortening 0.5 Cup Milk 1 Stick Butter Or Margarine 0.25 Cup Sugar 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon 0.5 Teaspoon Nutmeg 2 Cups Milk 0.66 Cup Sugar 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract Lightly, grease an 8x8-inch baking dish. In a bowl, add flour and cut in shortening with a fork till well combined. Add 1/2 cup of milk and stir to combine. Shape dough into a ball. Place dough onto a floured surface and roll into a 7x10-inch rectangle. Drizzle softened butter over rolled dough evenly and sprinkle with 1/4 cup of sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon. Roll dough into a jelly-like roll and punch it. Cut the roll into 1-inch thick slices. Arrange slices in the prepared baking dish in a single layer. For the milk sauce: in a pan, add 2 cups of milk, remaining sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract over medium heat and cook till mixture bubbles, stirring continuously. Place some milk sauce over rolls and bake for about 30-40 minutes. Remove from oven and keep aside for a few minutes before serving. Divide rolls on serving plates. Drizzle with remaining sauce and serve.
