1.25 Cups Warm Water2 Teaspoons Natural Cane Sugar1 Teaspoon Sea Salt3 Cups Flour1.5 Teaspoons Active Dry Yeast1 EggIn a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sucanat in warm water. Add salt and enough flour and mix until a soft, pliable dough is formed. Place dough onto a lightly floured surface and with your hands, knead until a smooth and elastic dough is formed. Transfer dough into the same bowl. With a kitchen towel, cover the bowl and keep aside for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.Place dough onto floured surface and divide into 2 equal sized portions. Roll each portion into 10x8-inch rectangle. Starting with a long side, roll each rectangle and pinch the ends to seal. Shape each rolled rectangle into a log. Arrange loaves onto a greased pizza stone and keep aside for about 30 minutes.Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.For the egg wash: In a small bowl, add egg and 1 tablespoon of water and beat well. Coat the tops of each loaf with egg wash. With a sharp, serrated knife, make 4 slashes across the top diagonally.Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.Remove from oven and keep on a wire rack to cool before serving. Serve warm.
