This mixed berry gallate is sure to impress at your next family gathering. This pie takes a rustic form when the crust is folded around the filling. Smart Recipes, European Recipes, Dairy,Vegetables Recipes, Recipes Dairy,Vegetables European Mixed Berry Gallate Mixed Berry Gallate Recipe | PT1H Serves 12 Ingredients: 0.5 Cup Cold Butter 1.25 Cups All-Purpose Flour 0.5 Teaspoon Salt 2 Tablespoons Ice Cold Water 0.5 Teaspoon Vinegar 2 Cups Cherries 2 Cups Strawberries 0.25 Cup All-Purpose Flour 0.75 Cup Granulated Sugar 2 Teaspoons Fresh Lemon Juice 1 Large Egg In the bowl of a food processor, combine the butter, flour, salt and pulse this mixture until the crumbs are about the size of small peas. Slowly add ice cold water, 1-2 Tablespoons at a time, and slowly stir in the vinegar and continue to pulse until the dough comes together. Form dough into a ball. Flatten dough and tightly wrap in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a medium mixing bowl, add cherries and strawberries and sprinkle with flour and sugar. Toss with lemon juice. Set aside. Unwrap the dough, turn the dough onto a lightly floured work surface and roll it out, using a rolling pin. Don't overwork the dough. Roll until dough measures 14 inches wide and 1/8 inch thick. Place on baking sheet or round pizza pan. Lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray. Place fruit in the center of the dough, leaving a 1 1/2 inch border. Fold the dough up and around the mound of fruit. Pinch together to make a pleat. Brush the top of pleated dough with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for about 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and fruit is bubbling. Cool for 15 minutes before serving. Serve with a high quality vanillia bean ice cream.
