Grease a 9x12-inch casserole dish with a pat of butter & set aside. In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, add milk & salt and bring to a boil. Slowly, sprinkle grits into the boiling liquid, stirring continuously until well combined. Cook & stir until mixture slightly thickens, about 5 minutes. Add butter, both the cheeses, & garlic powder and stir until cheese melts completely. Remove from heat and set aside to cool for 15 minutes. Add beaten eggs and stir to combine well.
